Qatar receives 3000 tonnes of food products from Turkey through Hamad Port

The Green Guatemala refrigerated ship coming from the port of Izmir in Turkey has arrived at Hamad Port carrying 3000 tonnes of miscellaneous foodstuffs.
This is the first food shipment from Turkey via sea to reach Hamad Port.
This shipment was preceded by many other shipments by air cargo.
The vessel, carrying dry food, fruits and vegetables, is coming from Izmir port in western Turkey.
Turkey has already sent over 100 planes with food and other products for Qatar but this is the first time a cargo ship berthed at Doha with supplies.

Ipek Demirci, chief executive of the logistics company behind the shipment, told Anadolu Agency that her firm was preparing to send a second ship in the coming days.
On June 5, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Yemen abruptly cut diplomatic relations with Qatar and closed the land border.
Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E. and Bahrain also closed their airspace to Qatari aircraft.
Meanwhile the Ambassador of Turkey to Qatar, Fikret Ozer, has said that with his country’s support, Qatar would not face any kind of shortage of any type of goods in future and Turkey would also supply construction materials for ongoing FIFA 2022 related or other mega projects.
“After some time, if Qatar needs construction material for ongoing FIFA2022 or other mega projects, Turkey will also meet these needs and can supply quality material,” he said, adding that Turkey would always stand with Qatar to provide every kind of assistance.
