The disappearance bill was scheduled to be taken up in Parliament on Wednesday, but it was not taken for debate as scheduled due to huge protests campaigns carried out by political parties and religious clergies including the Mahanayake Theras.
Leader of the House and MinisterLaksman Kiriella said yesterday the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance Bill will be taken up for debate at a future date. He told parliament that media reports that the Bill was withdrawn by the government was not true.
