Despite  Minister Kiriella’s  Request to Doctors to Refrain from striking, GMOA meet today for a Decisive Discussion

Minister of Higher Education and Highways Lakshman Kiriella while attending an event in Kandy  requested doctors to refrain from striking considering the impact it makes at a time dengue epidemic is in the increase.
A special executive committee meeting of the GMOA meets today to take a final decision on strike, which was postponed by a week at the request of His Eminence the Archbishop.

The GMOA has already stated that it would resort to a strike if a different person was appointed to the Sri Lanka Medical Council. Further, GMOA media spokesman Dr. Samantha Ananda said, that if a final decision could not be reached today, a meeting would be held again next Thursday and a final decision taken.
