TNA MP Sumanthiran Files FR Case Against Steel Fitting Houses

TNA member of Parliament M.A.Sumanthiran has filed a fundamental rights (FR) case against steel fitting houses in the supreme court yesterday 130 and prayed  for an interim injunction and cancellation of the Housing Scheme. He has filed and cited relevant hansard and gazette notification issued in this connection. In  his application he said, on 22nd December 2015, the cabinet decided to build   houses for war affected 65,000 families. Subsequently  on 24th March 2016, Minister of Reconstruction and prison Reforms, S.Swaminathan announced in parliament that steel fitting houses will be built and provided to them. Steel fitting houses are not human friendly and unsuitable considering the North East climate and environment. A steel fitting house cost Rs 2.1 million. Moratuwa University Research done on steel fitted houses revealed the fact that cement bases human friendly houses cost much less than Rs 2.1 million. Despite these facts, Resettlement and Prison Reforms Minister S.Swaminathan is adamant and determined to proceed with it.
 Having considered above facts he pray for an interim injunction and cancellation of this steel fitting Houses  for the displaced people in the North and East.
