President Requests SLFP Ministers To Wait Till December 31 or Leave…….

 A meeting reported to have been held at the President’s house on Tuesday (11) with the SLFP members of parliament including  Ministers.

At this meeting while most of the ministers assured  to stand by him, some ministers reported to have said, that they were fed up with the UNP and ready to leave. Revolting 18 MPs demanded the SLFP to leave the government or to remove Prime Minister Ranil from the premiership immediately. If not they will leave the government and sit along with the opposition and sought President’s consent for it.

 At this stage President reported to have said, that the next Presidential election will be held only in the year 2022 and it is too early and not advisable to take rash decisions now.  He requested them to be patient till 31^st December 2017 and would not beg anyone not to leave. President has made his mind clear on this matter and announced.
