Deep Sea Patrol Vessel to be Handed Over to Army on 22nd

Four years back  Srilanka  entered  into an agreement   with  India  to build two Deep Sea  Vessel  for Srilankan Navy at a cost of Rs 1000 million  .  Accordingly,  the first Deep Sea Patrol Vessel  built  in Goa ship building yard  will be handed over  officially  to Srilanka Navy  on 22nd July 2017.
105 meter long  Deep Sea Patrol Vessel  weighing  2400 ton fighting  vessel  will be engaged in operation  on 2nd August. The second vessel is expected  to be handed over 3 months  well in advance before the scheduled date in February 2018. This ship can operate at a 25 nautical miles speed per hour. There is provision  to carry  a helicopter on this ship.
These  Deep Sea Patrol Vessel   will be engaged in providing security to ships and,  assist  sea coast guard  ships and  security of Deep Sea  installations.
