Post Mortem Verdict on Lasantha’s Murder Today

The verdict on the most recent post mortem examination conducted on murdered veteran Journalist Lasantha Wickremethunga is scheduled to be announced today(190).

Lasantha Wickremethunga was assassinated down Attidiya Road on the 8th of January 2009. This case will be taken up before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court. The body of the deceased Journalist was exhumed in September 2016 in order to conduct another post mortem examination following a court order.

The post mortem revealed that Lasantha Wickremethunga died due to a blow to the head and not gunshot injuries.

Court ordered that the body be exhumed once again following a request filed by the Criminal Investigations Department which required the accurate cause of death in order to conduct further investigations.
