Sarana Gunawardena Fined Rs 2,000

Since  former Chairman of the National Lotteries Board Sarana Gunawardena has pleaded  guilty  in the case  filed by the Bribery Commission  against him  for his failure to declare assets during the two years he served as the Chairman of the National Lotteries Board, the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena for failure to declare assets during the two years he served as the Chairman of the National Lotteries Board.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Ranasinghe Bandara also ordered that the accused will be sentenced to 6 months in prison, in the event that he fails to pay the fine.
