4,000 Fake Beggars in Colombo?

In a survey carried out by the CMC and the Western Province Development Ministry revealed, that 4,000 fake beggars are being operating within the CMC limits.

Most of them are from other parts of the Island and came to Colombo to engage in begging, which bring them a revenue. Hence, they adopt this as their profession. Further, the survey revealed that a group has been managing some of them in the form of a network. Others are operating on their own.

Further, it sated that some of them are engaged in anti-social work. Beggars in Colombo cause difficulties in various ways to public. The report mentioned only poverty hit 660 real beggars are in Colombo.
