Colombo District Ex-Parliamentarian Dinesh Gunawardena stated that the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) will make a statement to media in response to President Maithripala Sirisena’s speech last evening.
The UPFA elections steering committee will meet today and the statement is expected to be given following the meeting, Gunawardena told an online news paper.
The UPFA elections committee will start its work today, he explained.
President Maithripala Sirisena lashed out at former President Rajapaksa last evening, saying that he is opposed to giving nominations to Rajapaksa. He also said that Rajapaksa will be defeated in the general election as well. Sirisena also said that he will remain neutral in the election.
However, Sirisena is the Chairman of the UPFA.
