Around 150 families to Evacuate from Dikarawa, Bandarawela

Followed by heavy rain in Bandarawela , Badulla and  Dayatalawa,  Dikarawa,  Bandarawela is facing  the risk of landslide. It has been noticed  that water spring originated from cracks on earth due to Uma Oya Project prompted Disaster Management Centre (DMC) Chilaw  to request around 150  families from Dikarawa of Bandarawela  to evacuate  immediately.
However, by 9pm yesterday  only 26 families have shifted to the  temporary shelter at  Bindunuwewa, National Youth Corps Training Centre.
While others didn’t  heed to the request made by the  Disaster Management Centre in  Badulla, some of them , who had evacuated and found shelter in the National Youth Corps Training Centre reported to have returned back to their houses..
