Weather Forecast For 9th August 2017

There is a high possibility of afternoon thundershowers in the Eastern, Uva, Northern and North-Central provinces. Cloudy skies can be expected at most parts of the island.

Several spells of showers will occur at Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere after 2.00 p.m.

Fairly heavy falls (about 50 mm) can be expected at some places in the Ratnapura, Kegalle, Mathara, Kaluthara, Badulla, Trincomalee, Batticaloa,Vauniya and Mullaitivu districts.

Fairly strong winds about 40-50 kmph can be expected in Southern province.

(There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.)
