Forest Fire in Welimada

Welimada Disaster Management  Center  has announced  due to wildfire in Bogahakumbura Mountain in Welimada,  25 acres of forest has been destroyed.

Due to prevailing draught situation difficulties were experienced in dousing the fire. However, with the help of Badulla fire brigades, Diyatalawa  Army, Wildlife Protection Authorities, Disaster Management  Authorities and villagers, they were able to doused the fire last midnight.

In this stretch  of  mountain land 300 acres belongs to  State Forest .
