Laptops With Internet Facilities on MPs Desk in House
As from yesterday MPs are provided with a laptop with internet connections on their desk in the House, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya informed Parliament.
He said the computers had been provided on 31st by the Chinese Parliament under the E- Chamber project.
He said MPs in the House would be able to access the internet and information on legislature, acts and bills presented by MPs, questions and answers asked by MPs, information regarding the questions to be asked, reports on committee meetings, Hansards, Order Paper and private details of MPs.
This will facilitate electronic voting in parliament and keep the MPs engaged in parliament business for long hours.
The speaker has thanked the Chinese Parliament to provide this facility to Srilankan parliament.
