Judicial Medical Officer  Samarasekera to be Arrested

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID)   yesterday informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate Court  that there was sufficient evidence to arrest and charge Colombo Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) Ananda Samarasekera in connection with the murder of national rugby player Wasim  Thajudeen.
When the case was taken for hearing yesterday(24), Deputy Solicitor General Dilan Ratnayake making submissions to Court, on behalf of the CID, said that the probe related to the case was continuing.
He said that a probe had already been conducted against the alleged involvement of Samarasekera in the misplacing of the Thajudeen’s bones.
He told the Court that investigations conducted against former JMO Samarasekera had proved beyond doubt his involvement in the case and hence he could be arrested and produced before Court. Making submissions to Court on behalf of the aggrieved party, Attorney V. Sattar told the Court that not only the family of Thajudeen but the entire country was closely following the proceedings of the case.
