Weather Forecast For 29th August 2017
Possibility for afternoon thunder showers will increase in Northern, North-Central and Eastern provinces from 31st August to 2nd September.
Severalspells ofshowers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Central provinces and in the Galle district.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at few places in the Uva province and in the Batticaloa and Ampara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds about 40-50kmh can be expected over the country (particularly in Northern, North-central, North-western, Eastern and Central provinces and in the Matara and Hambanthota districts).
On the apparent southward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 27th of August and 06th of September in this year. The nearest towns of Sri Lanka over which the sun is overhead today (29th) are Talaimannar, Illuppaikkadavai, Ambalpuram and Tanduwan about 12.12 noon.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
