Weather Forecast For 30th August 2017
Possibility for afternoon thunder showers will increase over the Island (particularly in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern,Uvaand Central provinces) from 31st August to 2nd September.
Several spells of light showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Central provinces and in the Galle and Mataradistricts.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Uva,Easternand Northern provincesafter 2.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds about 40-50 kmh can be expected over the Hambanthota and Maduru-oya areas.
On the apparent southward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 27th of August and 06th of September in this year. The nearest towns of Sri Lanka over which the sun is overhead today (30th) are Kondaichchi, Varikutturuwa, Maniyarakulam, Tammannewa, Pettewa and Irakkandi about 12.11 noon.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
