Britain to Insist Arrest of Former SL Army Commander Jagath Jayasuriya
Followed by a case filed by an Non Governmental Organization (NGO) supported by tiger frontiers in Britain, British MP Skali spear headed the demand to arrest former Army Commander Jagath Jayasuriya . British Parliamentarian group too requested to arrest him and produce him in the International Court. A Sinhala daily, ‘’Divaina’’ published this news.
They stated ethnic reconciliation could only be achieved in Srilanka by arresting and prosecuting Jagath Jayasuriya. Justice could only be meted out to those who have lost their lives and those, who were made involuntarily disappeared by prosecuting this high profile officer responsible for it.
In the meantime Srilankan President Maithripala Sirisena categorically stated at the 66th SLFP anniversary celebration meeting held at Campbell Park in Colombo yesterday thus: ‘’I won’t allow war crime charges against Jagath Jayasuriya’’.
