150 mm of Rainfall Expected in South Eastern Parts of the Island

The Disaster Management Centre Spokesman,  Pradeep Koddipili said,  up to 150 mm of rainfall can be expected in the South Eastern parts of the island and has called for the public to remain vigilant in view of the prevailing inclement weather.
He  further noted a spill gate of the Kukule Ganga Dam has been opened and accordingly called for the public in Agalawatte, Wallawitta, Palinda-Nuwara, Ingiriya, Bulathsinhala & Baduraliya to remain cautious.
He noted as heavy rainfall is expected in Aheliyagoda and Ayagama in the Ratnapura district the public in the relevant areas specifically must evacuate to safe zones, furthermore adding the public in areas which have been issued landslide warnings by the NBRO must also evacuate.
