Mahinda Issued Statement  on Sil Cloth Verdict

In a press release circulated earlier today (14), former President Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed his views on the conviction of former Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga and former Director of the TRC Anusha Palpita stating that ruling shocked the nation.

In his statements, Mahinda Rajapaksa explicitly stated that both Anusha Palpita and Lalith Weeratunga had only carried out legitimate instructions given to them by the President at the time and that the current regime should act responsibly to protect state servants from simply executing their duties.

Through this statement he has taken full responsibility for the  entire Sil cloth  issue.
