OMP Agreement Only for Future Not For the Past -PM

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe while opening of the new building at the Polpithigama National School Kurunegala on 16th September said, nobody can file cases  against past crimes under Office of Missing Persons (OMP) as the constitution doesn’t permit it.  OMP is applicable only for future crimes.
Further he said, that he and the  President have decided that they are not going to allow  filing  cases against anybody,  who took part in the war, whatever the right and wrong which, they can  solve it. They  will not break their promises and will ensure that no kidnapping will take place in the future, he added.
Hence, no one can file cases in respect of  missing persons up to the end of the war in 2009 and thereafter. Spokesman for the missing persons during the war period said, this  statement has defeated the purpose of OMP and disappointed them.
