Sri Lankan Technician Employed in Singapore Nabbed With Foreign Currencies Worth 1.6 Million
A 35-year old Sri Lankan of Samanthurai employed as a technician in Singapore, has been nabbed at the BIA Departure section , while attempting to smuggle foreign currencies worth Rs 1.6. Million yesterday(27) .
Foreign currencies worth US$10,000 and S$643 were found in suspect’s back pocket when he was arrested. The currencies were forfeited and suspect was released after being fined Rs. 100,000 by Customs Deputy Director Mr.Ranjith De Alwis.
