Heavy Vehicles Will be Barred From Entering the Galle Fort
The famous Dutch Fort in Galle has been recognized as a world heritage site. The Historical Arch at the main entrance of the Galle Fort was damaged when a lorry crashed into the structure last February.
A Gazette notification was issued banning entry of heavy vehicles to Galle Fort in 2009. But it was not implemented properly.
Followed by this, heavy vehicles will be barred from entering the Galle Fort with effect from 1st October 2017.
