Basil Filed Appeal to Change HC Judge in His Case
Former Minister Basil was charged for misusing Divineguma funds amounting to 29 million during previous regime.
This case is scheduled to be taken up for trial before Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulatunga on 13th November , who sentenced three years rigorous imprisonment for former Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and Director General of TRC Anusha Palpita in the sil cloth case.
Scared Basil Rajapaksa filed an application in the Appeal Court today, seeking to transfer his case to another high Court for inquiry by any other judge than Gihan kulatunga.
He has given the reason as, Judge Gihan kulatunga served as a member of the Presidential Commission probing against him. Hence, he cannot expect justice and fair play from Gihan Kulatunga.
