Job Security of Hambantota Port Workers Soon

Minister of  Labour, Trade Union Relations and Sabaragamuwa Development W. D. J. Senevirathna has issued a communiqué regarding job security of Hambantota Port workers. Its says that action will be taken, in the next two weeks, to assure job security of Hambantota Port.

workers . This will be done after holding relevant discussions with Port Administration Authority and the subject Minister.

Although the Government decided to lease out Hambantota port to China and signed a lease agreement to ease the country’s debt burden, recommendations  of the Commissioner General of  labour was not obtained regarding the future of the employees.

Hence,  action would be taken to provide a solution soon, Minister concluded.
