The government reiterates that a decision has not been reached to privatise the Mattala International Airport. Minister Mahinda Amaraweera rejecting all allegations levelled by vested interests said, the government has not held discussions regarding privatization of Mattala Airport with any local or international party.
He reiterated that a decision pertaining to the future of the Mattala Airport will only be taken following lengthy discussions by the Cabinet of Ministers.Further , he said the present government headed by President Maithripala Sirisena will work transparently when arriving at such decisions,which will be notified to the Parliament and the general public will also be educated on the move. The Minister noted the government will not sweep such matters under the carpet adding the public will be kept in the know.
