Election Commission to Convene Today

The Election Commission is due to convene this morning under the auspices of its Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya. Special attention will be focused on the issues that have cropped up regarding upcoming elections.

 Mahinda Deshapriya said attention will also be drawn towards ongoing court proceedings regarding the Provincial Councils and Local Government Elections.

 Further he said, that a date to hold the Provincial Councils and Local Government Elections will not be decided upon as the gazette notification on the number of members of local government bodies has not been issued.
