Mono Train System to be Introduced in Srilanka

Singapore and Malaysia had introduced Mono Rail system to reduce traffic congestion. Srilanka too wants to introduce the same system to reduce traffic congestion in Colombo and towns closer to it, and make it easy for commuters to travel. For this purpose Srilanka had prepared a project to join Colombo and six towns in close proximity. Initially to join Colombo, Battaramulla, Kottawa, Kaduwela and Malabe was considered.
An international tender was called from 5 internationally reputed companies acquainted with such a system to advice Srilanka on this project. The opportunity to give advice to Srilanka on this project had been granted SYE and Saman Corporation of Korea at a cost of Rs 202 million.
