Piyasena Replaces Geetha in  Parliament

Followed by an appeal court decision confirmed by the Supreme Court, former actress Geetha Kumarasinghe lost her seat in parliament. Hence, the Parliament Secretary-General has informed the Election Commission Chairman that the seat was vacant. Subsequently, after inquiring from the Galle District Returning Officer regarding this, the Election Commission Chairman issued a gazette notification stating that the person next on the preferential votes list is appointed to take the seat.

Former Minister Piyasena Gamage , who was nominated for the UPFA Galle District Parliamentary seat  will take oaths in Parliament tomorrow (09). Piyasena replaces Geetha in parliament.
