Salary Increase to Public Servants

Minister of Public Administration Vajira Abeywardene, while addressing the Parliament said that the salary of government servants would be increased by 15 percent from next January. An estimated additional Rs.12 billion would be required on an annual basis to grant this salary increase to public servants and pensioners.

The Minister stated that the salary of the Office assistant would be increased from Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 23,000 and that the salary of the Attorney General would be increased up to Rs. 110,000/=.
