Matara Court Proceedings Disturbed Due to a Telephone Call Given to 119……………………

Emergency telephone number 119 rang up. The caller said, that a person armed with a gun entered the court premises with the intention  of    committing an offence.

Followed by this anonymous call court proceedings were suspended for a short while to enable Matara police to do a search operation. Police did a thorough check of the Matara South High Court and Matara Magistrate Court. They didn’t find any gun or arms. Further they didn’t find any suspicious person or persons inside the court premises. However, they detected an areca nut cutter in possession of a person came for the case.

After police gave clearance certificate court proceedings recommenced at 11 a.m. yesterday.
