Vigneswaran Insists National Flag Should be Respected &Takes NPC Minister to Task

Northern Provincial Education Minister S.Sarveshwaran, who recently attended a function held at Perakum Maha Vidyalaya in Irattaperiyakulam, refused to hoist the National Flag as the Chief Guest.

Northern Provincial Chief Minister C.V.Vigneswaran condemned the act and said, a public display of disrespect to the National Flag is not appropriate. He said that there might be issues with regard to certain beliefs his Education Minister had regarding unfair treatment of the Tamil minority, which could be demonstrated by other means. But the national flag should not be disrespected based on such disagreements, he emphasized.
