People Wants Rajapaksa Now More Than Ever Before – Prelate

At a religious event to mark the 72nd birthday of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Sri Dalada Maligawa, attended by the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Most Venerable Anunayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Wendaruwe Sri Upali Thera said, that President Mahinda Rajapaksa had not been defeated. Instead, he had been allowed to relax and take over the reins of government in the future, the prelate said.

The Thera further said, that the people now felt the need for Rajapaksa as the leader more than ever before
The Anunayake Thera recollected the services of former President Rajapaksa had rendered to uplift the living conditions of the people and to safeguard the territorial integrity of the country by defeating terrorism. Mahanayake Theras of the Maha Vihares had recognised Rajapaksa’s patriotism and devotion to the Sasana and honoured him by conferring on him honorary degrees such as Sri Rohana Puthra, the Anunayake Thera said.
