UP Cops Arrest Donkeys For Destroying Jail Property, Release Them After 4 Days

It is said that no one can escape the law. Cops in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun seem to take this homily very seriously, as exhibited when they arrested a herd of donkeys for allegedly destroying jail property.

These donkeys were put behind bars for the gross misdemeanour of eating and damaging certain valuable plants in the Urai district jail’s compound. After being detained for four days, the donkeys were released on Monday following a local politician‘s intervention in the matter.

“These donkeys had destroyed some very expensive plants which our senior officer had arranged for planting inside jail and despite warnings the owner let loose his animals here so we detained the donkeys,” head constable of Urai Jail R K Mishra was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
The donkeys were arrested on November 24, but when their owner Kamlesh went to Urai jail to seek their release, the police refused to free the felonious animals.
