Human Rights Commission Chairman Regrets Its’ Recommendations Ignored

Human Rights Commission Chairperson Dr. Deepika Udagama said, that the Human Rights Act had vested the Commission with necessary provisions to take follow up action, if its recommendations are ignored.
Some of the Institutions and authorities have failed to implement its recommendations. Hence, it will be notified to Parliament through President Maithripala Sirisena, Chairperson said. It was the people who had to undergo suffering owing to the failure to implement the Commission recommendations.  Further she said, that steps will be taken to amend the provisions in order to take action against officials, who fail to implement its recommendations.
