New High Court to Matale & Magistrate Court to Lakkala

The Ministry of Justice having considered the hardships that residents of Matale have to undergo by travelling to Kandy for High Court Cases, has taken steps to construct a High Court in the Matale District.

Matale is the only administrative district in the country without High Court.The construction of the High Court is set to begin next month. In the meantime, reports indicate that the current Tourist Magistrate’s Court building will be inundated by the Moragahakanda reservoir in the coming days. The Ministry of Justice has proposed and scheduled to establish a Magistrate Court in Lakkala.
