VIDEO: Did Ex-President Slap Him ?

A video in which former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa is attempting to attack a spectator of one of his rallies is going viral in social media at the moment.

The incident takes place when the former President is arriving to the stage of a rally in Akuressa in the Matara district.

As he is walking through the crowd, he seems to be angered by someone. Rajapaksa attempts to spring on him with a cuffed hand. He is guarded by his security and also pushed back. Then he enters the stage and salutes the people.

The rally was organized by United People’s Freedom Alliance Matara district candidate and Akuressa electoral organizer Manoj Peiris.

Many people criticize the former President who was defeated in the January 08 Presidential election for contesting the election splitting his party, Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
