Appeals Court Turned Down Request Made to Acquit GMOA Chairman

A petition was filed by two members of the Purawasi Balaya Organization Gamini Viyangoda and Professor Sarath Wijesuriya at the Appeals Court regarding a statement made by GMOA Chairman Dr. Padeniya by criticising
the order issued by the Appeals Court regarding South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine or SAITM.
The Appeals Court today rejected the request to acquit the Chairman of the Government Medical Officers Association Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya of charges of contempt of court. The order was issued by a two member bench including the Chairman of the Appeals Court judge LTB Dehideniya.
The case will be taken up for hearing at the Appeals Court once again on the 10th of March.
