Number of Subjects in Ordinary Level Examination Will be Reduced to Six.

Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam  while  speaking at a function in Nugegoda yesterday said, that the number of subjects in the Ordinary Level Examination will be reduced to six.

He said the number of subjects will be reduced in order to minimise the pressure on Ordinary Level students. Ordinary Level subject content is too heavy as the subject area is vast due to additional areas that have been included.

Ministry assessed the current subjects according to a practical and developed method and have planned to restructure the content and the syllabus in order to make a significant change, he added .

The government is aware of the risk and the responsibility of launching this initiative as it is related to the education and the future of all students, he concluded.
