CID Ordered To File Charge Sheet against DV Upul

 

Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today ordered the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) to file a charge sheet against Southern Province Minister DV Upul on December 12, on the alleged incident where the Minister threatened the personnel of police Financial Crimes Investigations Division.

At a meeting in Hambantota, Upul threatened that he is waiting for the return of Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister so that he could watch the police officers of the Financial Crimes Investigations Division being stoned to death.

The CID was assigned to investigate into the controversial statement. Upul was arrested on June 8, and was released on bail a week later.
