Possibility of Holding Provincial Council Election at the End of March
When the petition filed by the Joint Opposition was taken for inquiry at the the Supreme Court yesterday, Additional Solicitor General Presidential Counsel Indika Demuni de Silva informed the Court that once the delimitation report is passed in Parliament Election Commission is empowered to call for election . Further she said, that Provincial Council Elections were not postponed. The period of certain Provincial Council had been completed. Hence it was deferred.
There is a possibility of holding Provincial Council Election at the end of March 2018 .
The case was postponed to 17th January 2018.
