Request For Bail Made by Six ‘Aava Group’ Members Rejected.

Three out of the six “Aava Group”suspects were arrested in Colombo, and the other three were arrested in Jaffna and Vavuniya. The suspected leader of ‘Aava Group’ was arrested along with 5 other gang members on August 07.

Sathyavel Nathan Nishanthan, alias “Nisha Victor,” who is also the main suspect in the recent attack on two police officers in Kopai, was taken into custody by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID). Another three suspected members of ‘Ava Group’ were also arrested by Chunnakam Police on August 10.

The suspects were identified as Thuraisingam Raj Kumar alias ‘Ajith Kumar’ from Manippai, Ravichandran Stralinton alias ‘SR’ from Manippai and Krishnapillai Kirubakaran alias ‘Kisba’ from Chunnakam The Attorneys-at- law appearing on behalf of the suspects requested the Court to grant bail for the suspects as they were under detention for a considerable period of time. But, the Jaffna District Judge S.Sadeeskaran yesterday (14) refused to grant bail for six members of the criminal gang ‘Aava Group’ and ordered to re- remand the accused until December 28.
