Deadline to Exchange Damaged Srilankan Currency Notes

The Central Bank has announced that damaged and torn out Srilanka currency notes should be presented to the nearest bank and got it exchanged before the deadline on 31 st December 2017. All damaged and torn out Srilankan currency notes will be declared as invalid after 31 st December 2017. Deliberately damaging a currency note is an offence under the Finance Act No: 58 of 1949.and offenders could be fined with a penalty or sentenced to jail. Possessing damaged notes is a punishable offence.
