29th April Declared As Vesak Poya Day In The Year 2018?
After 4 years number of days in a year increase, which is called a leap year. This is because one day is more in February during the leap year. In other words, February month in leap year has 29 days instead of 28 days in other years.
Last leap year was in the year 2016. Hence, the next leap year comes in the year 2020.
But a statement said to have been issued by the Minister of Local Government Vajira Abeyawardena states, that number of Poya days in the year 2018 is 13th instead of normal 12 Poya days.
Hence, Vesak Poya day in the year 2018 is declared as on 29th April on the 5th Poya day.
