Teachers Union Poised to Take Trade Union Action in January 2018

According to the proposal made on 23 rd October 2014, teachers who were appointed as from the year 2008 and promoted, their arrears of payment is payable as from 1 st January 2011, said Secretary to the Teachers Union , Joseph Stalin.

But up to now they were not paid with arrears. In Colombo educational zone itself 8,000 teachers are there. According to Education Service Minutes, if payment of arrears is not paid to teachers entitle for it as from 2011, teachers union will be compelled to take trade union action, he said.
