Despite Directive From The President, Service Minute Remains To Be Established Resulting Immigration Tus Threatens To Strike

The first involves establishing and making effective the service minute pertaining to the said service minute , which remains unattended nearly 20 years now , and even President Maithripala Sirisena at the last meeting held in this regard, approved it and issued a directive regarding this matter, yet the Departmental Administration, the Public Administration Commission, and the National Salaries and Cadre Commission are not processing.
The second involves attaching Immigration Officers to foreign diplomatic missions, while the third involves re-establishing the Prosecution Unit of the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
Since relevant authorities have continued to ignore their demand. Hence, after publicly announcing their  intentions, they will see the response of the authorities and based on that, decide on trade union action, which will not inconvenience the public, Trade union action includes  a token strike in ports after 27 December if the authorities fail to fulfil their  demands.
