400 Colombo Coconut Traders Taken to Court by CAA

According to the Consumer Affairs Authority, the government has announced the maximum price of the sale of a coconut to be Rs.75 as per the gazette notification published
The Consumer Affairs Authority has conducted raids in several areas in Colombo in the last few days. Followed by these raids, 400 traders who were selling coconut beyond maximum retail price fixed by the state were taken to court by the Consumer Affairs Authority.   
Accordingly, the authority stated that raids are still being carried out and that complaints can be made to the short code 1977.
In the meantime, lawsuits against 2000 traders have been made by the Consumer Affairs Authority with regard to the violation of the consumer laws during the festive season.
