MR Requests Govt to Solve SAITM Issue

Issuing a statement, MP Mahinda Rajapaksa said the government should not mislead the Government Medical Officers Association and the medical students by providing false resolutions and decide upon a conclusive way forward for the students of SAITM. He alleged that the GMOA and student unions have expressed concern that the government is preparing to renege on their pledge against the medical degree course offered by SAITM.

He requested the government to resolve prolonged problems surrounding the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine as early as possible. When he was told that the present government have accused that SAITM was started by the previous tenure of the United People’s Freedom Alliance led government, it is a private enterprise started by its owners and not by any government, he said.
