Alarming 1,200 Dengue Patients Recorded on the First 2 Days of This Year

National Dengue Eradication Division Social Medical Expert, Prasheela Samaraweera said, comparing with the number of dengue patients in the year 2016, three times increase was recorded in the year 2017. Out of total number of 183,046 dengue patients, 427 persons lost their lives in the year 2017. Most of the deaths were from the Western Province. In the year 2016, 98  dengue patients out of 55,000 recorded island wide  died.

National Dengue Eradication Division has revealed that alarming 1,200 dengue patients were recorded on the first two days of this year, 2018. National Dengue Eradication Division advised people to keep their environment clean and free of mosquito breeding grounds.
