Number of Vehicles Allowed to Enter ‘Yala’ Park Increased From 500 to 600

Following a discussion chaired by President Maithripala Sirisena and participated by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Minister of Wildlife Gamini Jayawickrema Perera and Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, authorities have taken a decision to allow entry of 600 vehicles into the Yala National Park in view of the tourist season.

Current 500 vehicles allowed entering the Yala National Park per day is found inadequate.   Many visitors are unable to visit the park due to the existing entry limit and go back disappointed.
